Hello,

A few months ago, I dowloaded and installed fink (Package manager version
0.16.0 and Distribution version 0.6.1) on my Powerbook (OS 10.2.7). For
almost every package I selected to install using dselect, it would list
darwin as being unavailable. I got frustrated and put it aside until
recently when I downloaded and installed Apple's X11 (beta 3) and upgraded
to Mac OS 10.2.8 hoping that this would fix the problem. It didn't. Here
is an example of what I mean. I have selected xdvi and it lists these
conflicts/dependencies:

xdvi depends on darwin (>= 6-1)
darwin does not appear to be available

Under the Apple System Profiler I checked that the Darwin kernel version
is 6.8. I'm a newbie to Mac OS X and don't know much about Unix so I'd
appreciate any help you could offer.

Thank you,

Mike
