Being new to Linux in general why do some applications appear under Fink and others not? For example Galeon is listed as web browser for Gnome. Gnumeric, Abiword and other gnome applications are listed in Fink but not Galeon, Balsa, and Evolution.

Last time I looked, galeon and evolution existed as Fink packages.

Fink packages do not just "appear" out of the blue sky. Some volunteer has to port them, make them work on Mac OS X and together with the other Fink packages. So if something does not "appear" in the list of Fink packages, this either means no one bothered to look at it or no one found the time necessary to port it.

It is a community of volunteers, and you are invited to participate with the skills you have and the time you are willing to contribute.
