No, I am not behind a firewall. At least I don't know of any. But you 
are right there seems to be some network problem. Mail and web services 
are working OK but cvs is not working. I just tried another cvs 
repositry and it timed out as well. I'll see if I can localize the 
fault or missing bit.

Do you have a firewall?  Are you able to connect to this site?  It 
sounds like you have network problems of some form, be they 
self-inflicted (firewall) or other (bad route between you and there).
