I was having a problem a few days ago with fink not recognizing Darwin. You can still find the thread in the archives (called "Darwin not available?"). No one could come up with a definitive answer so I decided to delete fink (i.e. everything in /sw like the faq says) and reinstall the latest binary version. The reinstallation went fine. When I ran Update in dselect for the first time, it gave the following messages:

I can't remember if this happened when I first tried to install fink so
it's possible this is the cause of the Darwin problem I was having before.
I'd appreciate any help. BTW, I have Apple's X11 installed (beta 3) and
Mac OS 10.2.8.
/usr/bin/nm is provided by the developer Tools. My recollection is that these messages are harmless.
Thank you,
Mike
