Hello,
I would like to update KDE.
Since the KDE stuff will be compiled with -Os by default I will change the settings to -O2
So I patched the finkinfo/kde/* files. I also checked the kde-admin file in /sw/src.
But fink will still compile KDE with Os. I found the environment-helper file in the /sw/src dir. I modified this file. But my changes will be overwritten by fink.
What can I do?
Parts of KDE won't build with -O2, and considering how unstable 3.2.0 is in the first place (it's a .0 release, after all) I wouldn't recommend trying to squeak more optimizations out of it. But if you want to try anyways you have to modify both the info files, and the kde-admindir tar with environment-helper.sh in it (both environment-helper.sh and possibly admin/acinclude.m4.in too, I don't recall).
I'm not aware of anywhere else it would be set.
FYI, environment-helper.sh started out with all of the -fast optimizations in it (including -O3), I had to keep backing off until I essentially did nothing but -Os, because things kept breaking. So, uhh... good luck with that. =)
