I've updated to 10.3.2 from OS 10.2.8, working Fink, unstable tree enabled, all updated. Now I'm struggling to update my "converted" Fink installation. I noted the exchange a few days back about a typical problem I've had, that of the xml parser missing but installed. The messages stated that perl 581 was the appropriate module for Panther.
Before I force-remove everything related to perl 560, e.g.,
i compress-zli... 1.19-3 Part of the info-zip zlib compression lib...
i digest-md5-p... 2.27-1 Perl module, access to the RSA Data Security
i html-parser-... 3.27-2 Perl modules that parse and extract info
i mime-base64-... 3.00-11 Perl module that contains a base64 enc/dec
i storable-pm560 1.0.14-3 Perl module for persistent data structure...
i uri-pm560 1.28-11 Perl module that implements the URI class
I thought it prudent to ask for confirmation that this is the correct approach.
In the cases where both -pm560 and -pm581 modules exist, I would recommend to install the -pm581 module directly. It should remove the -pm560 module automatically. When there is no corresponding -pm581 module, as for storable-pm560, a simple fink-remove should be sufficient. Only if these methods don't work, you should use force.
