Hi
I am experiencing grave problems installing X11 using fink's fink commander.
1. Mac OS 10.2.8 running on a G4 400Mhz installed Fink 0.6.2 trying to run
xfree86 4.2.1.1 and 4.3.0. I have Mac OSX developers package installed.
2. I installed xfree86 4.2.1.1 and after the install and reinstall it gives
this message:
Failed: This package must be compiled with GCC 3.3, but you currently have 3.1
selected.
To correct this problem, run the command:
sudo gcc_select 3.3 I have run this command from Fink Terminal update option. I get the following message: [Stephen-No-2-Computer:~] stephenc% sudo /sw/bin/apt-get -q0 -f update Password: Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/release/main Packages Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/release/main Release Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/release/crypto Packages Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/release/crypto Release Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/current/main Packages Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/current/main Release Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/current/crypto Packages Hit http://us.dl.sourceforge.net 10.2-gcc3.3/current/crypto Release Reading Package Lists... I have tried to download xfree86 direct and cannot install X11 from that. I have tried to follow all the instructions on the fink help page. 4. I wish to have X11 to run openoffice and other open source programs on my system.
Thanks for the help - apologies for my lag of knowledge!
Take care Steve
