Hi, I installed quanta on Panther, and it installed all the necessary KDE libs and stuff for it to work. I downloaded (not through fink) the Crystal SVG Icon theme. I uncompress it on /sw/share/icons/. The "crystal" directory was created with all the icons inside. I notice that there was a symbolic link from default.kde to crystalsvg/ (the original directory for the original icon theme.) . I change the link from default.kde to crystal/ (ln -fs crystal/ default.kde). The link works, whenever you change to the directory "default.kde", you are really entering to the crystal one. We'll, the point is that I can't see the new icons. I checked my KDE installation on Mandrake 9.1, and there is no symbolic link, so this means, there should be a configuration file for modifying the actual Icon theme. Where is that file?

Most likely things are different in KDE 3.2 (mandrake 9.1 still uses 3.1.x, does it not?)

I'm not sure how you change the default theme through the command-line, but if I had to bet I'd say it involves editing a configuration file in ~/.kde/share/ -- generally "default" stuff that's in /sw/share/ only applies to someone who's never logged in to KDE before.

Or you could just open up kcontrol and change it in the GUI. ;)
