To follow up on my previous question, which I wrote while I was still in the middle of the fink selfupdate to enable the unstable version.
Very soon after the selfupdate completed, my machine TOTALLY froze. I had to unplug it. (It's a blue-and-white g3). That has never happened before -- although I've only had the machine for a week, and bought it used, so there could be a HW problem. I'm running OS X Server 10.3.3. Is it possible there is some REALLY bad conflict between OS X Server and fink????
