I'm running Mac OS X 10.3 on a PowerMac G4 450 MHz. My attempts to install fink failed until now and I don't know why!
I made the installation with the User's Guide, which can be found under this link
http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/users-guide/index.php
1. I did install the Mac OS X Xcode Tools from the Install-Disk, which came with the Apple OS X 10.3
2. I did install the Mac OS X Installer Package "Fink-0.6.2-Installer.dmg" which I downloaded before.
3. I set the path which is described in the User's Guide Point 2.3
4. I installed Fink Commander.
5. When I startet Fink Commander I went online and all the available software was displayed in the Fink Commander window.
But no binary Distributions have been displayed. Why that?
6. In spite of that I downloaded software, apparently source-packages. My aim was to install the kde software. So about 114 packages had to be installed and it took hours to download it.
But at the end, it failed and stopped and I don't know why!
So at the moment I am a little bit frustrated! Is there anybody, who can help me may be step by step from the beginning?! It would be very helpful...
