Hello... I have recently purchesed a wonderfull system... a g5 with a 23in monitor and i am really happy with my purches (YAY!!!). this is a deffinate improvement over my old g3 iMac which had seen better days. However i had become quite enamored with the gimp. please excuse me for the question i am about to ask but... after i installed all of the parts of the program with fink as i had done on the g3 previously i recive this error message "Gtk-Warning **: cannot open display:" is this in some way related to the monitor??? it is an apple monitor i was a good consumer and went apple all the way (though I was sorely tempted by the huge viewsonic which was practicly the same price) on this machine thinking it would lessen the problems i had had earlier trying to hook up 3rd party hardware on the g3. or is this in some way related to the processor... as far as I know every thing that should be there is as the computer came pre assembled from apple i have been dinking around with it for some time now but the answer alludes me. please someone help these tech problems stretch my brain to the breaking point!!!
