Hello.

I'm really working through a fog here, and would appreciate any advice...

I read about a geneology program called Gramps. I went to check it out, and I gather that it's a Unix program, and to run it on my Mac, I needed to get involved with Fink.

I downloaded Fink. It seemed to go well.

i updated the Fink Commander, and then went hunting for Gramps. I found it, but when I tried to download it, I received the message:

Fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency. The candidates:
(1) python23
(2) python23-nox

After I picked one, I got another message that I needed to pick an alternative. This time, the candidates:
(1) db42
(2) db42ssl

Regardless of my choices (I tried all the permutations), I ended with this message:

Failed: Can't resolve dependency "nautilus-shlibs" for package "gnome-python2-py23-2.0.0.11" (no matching packages/versions found)

I really have only a glimmer of an idea of what I'm going to start with, and no clue at all about these problems.
I'm co-dependency.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thank you,
Larry Dietrich
