Try running

sudo dpkg --purge --force-remove-reinstreq teg

in a terminal window. This option is supposed to remove broken packages, whereas the regular force-remove doesn't.

teg won't go off my system?

hmm--the best I can come up with is to try to reinstall it from source ("fink install teg"). I'm not sure if this will work.
