Hello All,

I'm trying to get my new mac running OS10.3 running with fink, but I'm having some serious trouble, as explained below:

I can install fink, no problem, and I even install some applications, notably povray, which installed all the xfree86 stuff. However, I wanted to use apples X11 system and not the Xdarwin system, so I installed apples X11 from the apple site. Now however, when I type fink at the command prompt I get: command not found? fink still works fine in Terminal.

http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php?phpLang=en#fink-not- found , second paragraph.

I also notice that I don't have a .cshrc file in either my top directory or the root top directory. Is this not odd? on my other macs I have the line source /sw/bin/init.csh in my .cshrc files?

Bash is now the default shell. You should have a .profile file in your home directory with ". /sw/bin/init.sh". Systems that have been updated keep the existing user shell settings. The user accounts on the other Macs were probably using tcsh, and therefore have .cshrc files.

Any suggestions?

thank you,

Simon.
