Hi,

I seem to have broken my fink installation as a result of trying to install Perl 5.8 on my iBook running MacOS 10.2.8.

I currently get the following when trying something as simple as 'fink list':

dyld: perl Undefined symbols:
_Perl_get_sv
_Perl_getcwd_sv
_Perl_sv_2pv_flags
_Perl_sv_setsv_flags
Trace/BPT trap

The installation of Perl 5.8 said that it would break fink, but that it could be fixed by following the instructions in the FAQ at http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php?phpLang=en#perl-undefined-symbol

Alas, the following commands don't help:

mv /sw/lib/perl5/darwin/Storable.pm /tmp
mv /sw/lib/perl5/darwin/auto/Storable /tmp
fink rebuild storable-pm

The Storable and Storable.pm files are not in the specified locations, and when I try to run fink rebuild storable-pm, I simply get the error message listed above :-(

The Perl 5.8 distribution came from http://www.serverlogistics.com/downloads-jag.php - and it had instructions on how to get back to the Perl 5.6.0 release that came with Jaguar. So, I followed the instructions, and I still have the problem.

I have un-installed fink and installed it from scratch. However, I get the same errors.

Has anyone got any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks,

Neil
