It looks like you've overwritten the /usr/bin/head command via a Perl module (which installs /usr/bin/HEAD. You need to get yourself a new /usr/bin/head executable from someone else with a 10.2.x system--I'd help, but I'm on Panther and am not sure about compatibility.

Hi i have tried several methods of updating fink with no luck
this is the error i keep getting can someone help me?

What do you get if you run
what /usr/bin/head
in a terminal window? It should look something like
% what /usr/bin/head
/usr/bin/head
Copyright (c) 1980, 1987, 1992, 1993
PROGRAM:head PROJECT:text_cmds-30 DEVELOPER:root BUILT:Fri Sep 12 18:53:03 PDT 2003
