Hi:
I tried to upgrade from 0.6.0 but it somehow didn't work. Therefore, I tried to uninstall fink using what the FAQ says to do
sudo rm -rf /sw
I know I'm supposed to be suspicious of any command with -rf in it, but I tried it anyway. It of course completed removed the /sw directory.
Now things are really broken. Now my .profile file has the command
. /sw/bin/init.sh
in it (actually a few of them, because I ran pathsetup a few times) but there is no /sw directory. I can't get the install to work.
You mean "fink install"? That's OK, because the "fink" command has gone.
If the error message from ~/.profile really annoys you, just remove those lines.
Where have I gone wrong?
Since you want to upgrade, get the new Fink Installer dmg from the download site, version 0.6.3 if you are running Jaguar, and 0.7.0 if you are running Panther, and run the installer. All should be well then.
