I just reinstalled Mac OS 10.3 Panther and for that reason I had to set up another X11.
I'm using gcc 3.3, fink 0.20.1 and installed finks X11 with "fink install xfree86", "fink selfupdate", etc.
I can start the x-server with startx and the terminal windows, the clock etc. appear, but whenever I start an application like xpdf, I get error-messages like:
"LTK Error: Cannot connect to X server" (xpdf)
(gkrellm:16761): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: (gkrellm)
gv: Unable to open the display. (gv)
Are you sure that your DISPLAY environment variable is set? FAQ#8.6 http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-general.php?phpLang=en#no-display
