fink remove freetype freetype-hinting

And it all worked...

But how did it happen? Earlier today when I started the "update-all" I was prompted to choose one of freetype or freetype-hinting. So I chose one, and I expect, shot myself in the foot. Not that I seemed to have the choice of NOT choosing ...

No, it is not your fault. This is a principal problem in Fink (some packages being allergic against things needed by other packages). One would need a "BuildConflicts" field that would allow a package to remove other packages before it starts building. But this is not yet implemented, and it is not clear how to do so. There is a related discussion going on right now on the fink-devel list, but this is an old problem, and it will probably remain with us for a while.

It is also a problem caused by a stupid decision of the freetype developers, namely to put the freetype.h header file of freetype2 inside a directory named freetype, just as the one from freetype1, although the two files have absolutely nothing in common except their name.
