Thank you that helps me.

I was hoping that the script would be automated so that when I shut down
my Mac, it automatically gracefully shuts down mysql.

I would think or at least hope that Darwin acts like linux on a shutdown
and executes the Stop portion of each script in the Startup directory.

Instead, it sounds like I must manually shutdown mysql instead.

I will try tweaking the daemonic-mysql script, as I have little to lose
if it does not work.
