I finally understand.

I tried to create a xinitrc file in my home directory just for my profile, but there was a conflict between mine and the system-wide file in /private/etc/X11/xinit/

I modified this one and now it works. Still wondering why they conflict, but doesn't matter for now. At least I can use Unicode TTF fonts. I will see later for the conflict.

It's not a "conflict" as such: a .xinitrc in your home directory completely overrides the system-wide one.
