Subject: Re: [Fink-beginners] Is there a problem with the Fink Download site?
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:I get a message from the Safari browser saying "can't download because
the netword connection was reset, which sometimes happens occurs when
the server is busy, try again later" but this has been the case for
over a week now. The page I have been going to is:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/fink/Fink-0.7.0-Installer.dmg? download
I just tried, and it gives me, as usual, a page where I can choose a mirror site. The one I am choosing, heanet.dl.sourceforge.net, has always worked for me. It is slow this morning, only 72KB/sec instead of the usual 240KB/sec, so they may have problems with loading, but it downloaded the whole thing OK while I was writing this message.
I had the same problem and found that it was Netbarrier blocking banners that prevented the prdownloads.sourceforge.net page from loading. After allowing banners (all other firewall rules in place), I could then load the page. Some sites need cookies (banks), some need banners, some need originating IP/machine identifier (.Mac).
Cheers.
