In addition to the description from fink on kde, you may need more info, as did I since I didn't understand what I was reading. You'll need an XWindows, either Apple's X11 or xfree86, the Apple developer tools installed (downloaded from the ADC website or purchased as a cd once you become a member) and some certain amount of good fortune that you get all the dependency issues cleared up once you have everything in place.
I have an almost completely functioning KDE desktop and apps with some minor and not so minor issues (no sound, can't print except to pdf).
