Thank you so much!  For me the issue is resolved.  I trashed all
XDarwin86 and started agin with a fresh Apple X11, the Developer tools,
and Fink Commander.  I am able to compile and the Apple fonts look
great!  

BTW is there a way to create a symbolic link from a program in the
/sw/bin/ directory to the desktop or applications menu so I might
launch a program such as GAIM without opening the xterm window and
typing /sw/bin/gaim...  ?
