If I run X11 again, whether right after selecting No, or after a reboot, I get no more message boxes. But the X11 does it disappearing act again. My account is set to administer the computer. Nothing was said in Cyrus' article about needing to be in the Root account to get X11 to launch KDE.
Perhaps it has a low Cool Index, but reading some Fink documentation might be useful. An introduction is displayed by running "fink describe bundle-kde". In particular, it explains how to make your ~/.xinitrc.
