Honestly, I'M not sure if your answer fits my question. If there's a package on Fink (I don't care for Debian) than the error message should be different. It says, there were no installation candidate. That sounds to me like not having that package.


But okay, If there's a package than how can I make apt-get to install it.

Actually, I think I was not quite correct before, and the message is from apt.


I guess nobody bothered to modify the error message to make it Fink-specific.

Anyway, if you do "fink install mplayer" (or even "fink build mplayer") the message will go away because mplayer will be known to apt.
