Hi, I am currently using Mac OS 10.2 & I plan to update to 10.3. What is the best way to update fink? Previously I did a self-update.
I would strongly recommend to start from scratch with the Fink-0.7.1-Installer.dmg
If you have time, energy, and some curiosity for learning the inner workings of Fink, you can also run fink selfupdate, of course :-)
Also the last time I upgraded I put the following two lines in .cshrc source /usr/share/tcsh/examples/rc source /sw/bin/init.csh
Do I still need these?
The second one, yes. The first one depends on your personal configuration. If you modified some of the /etc/csh.* files, you will have to conserve them or remodify them after the system update. They will be overwritten.
