Thanks for the time Benjamin, I really appreciate and need it! In Fink man pages it says that the remove command leaves a deb file to facilitate reinstall. I have found:
"qt3-shlibs_3.2.3-13_darwin-powerpc.deb" in /sw/fink/10.2-gcc3.3/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11 and an alias to same in /sw/fink.old/fink/debs. Are these not what they seem to be (at least to me)? Is there any other way to get the qt3-3.2.3-13 pkgs to use?
Am I hosed now with no KDE (my god!!)?
Thanks again

I tried that too and no luck. I'll let out my dark secret and that is that I've installed DarwinPorts (to get Gimp2) and I know that it has installed some qt3 pkgs. Those are in my home directory, however, and fink shouldn't even see them. I guess my current question is: how do I get fink to find the .deb files so I can reinstall qt3-3.2.3-13? I haven't had any luck with the FAQ on this.

There are no debs of 3.2.3-13, because it had never been moved to stable... I was holding off on doing so until some parts of KDE got fixed.

We put a lot of thought into our defaults. We like them. If we
didn't, we would have made something else be the default. So
keep your cotton-pickin' hands off our defaults. Don't touch.
Consider them mandatory. "Mandatory defaults" has a nice ring
to it.
