I wouldn't worry too much about the "archived" files. The error looks not to be with what's installed, but from a post-install latex run.

Also, do you happen to have another tetex installation elsewhere on your system?
Not that I'm aware of, but my students sometime 'help' me, so I can't be sure. I'll check the usual suspects (/usr/local and /opt).
