This package refuses to overwrite these. Remove them, then tell

Hmm...it definitely worked for me.  Go ahead and do
sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6 /etc/X11
And then xorg should be able to install itsefl.

It appears to be the other way around:  xorg-shlibs look to be  
installed.  Try "fink list xorg" to verify this.  If xorg-shlibs is 
in  fact installed, then you can install xorg.

I had, in fact, removed X11R6 and got the error. You're right of course, 
I transposed in typing-sorry. Anyway, the installation worked. Now I'll 
try it out! Point me to your .deb files for qt3, etc and I'll give that 
a shot. I assume I'll have to edit my '/sw/etc/apt/sources.list' again?
