You need to start X11 or its equivalent like xfree86 or x.org. When X is running you then type 'sylpheed' or '/sw/bin/sylpheed' in an xterminal window and it should start. I assume you have an .xinitrc file in your home directory that is set up to run and call an X window manager? If this makes no sense to you I can give you more pointers but there is alot of info on the fink website in FAQ.
Curious, if I can't get this to work, how to I now remove all the Sylpheed files now that Fink does not see it installed. Or, is that one of the problems of installing from the terminal like I did and now I have thousands of files all over the place that do nothing for me.
Just curious.
