Due to the fact that I did not do a clean install with 10.3, I believe that I have some settings incorrect. For some reason, even though bash is supposed to be the default shell, terminal still opens with tcsh

If you don't do a clean install, the default shell from you prior OS X version gets kept. You can change this via the Netinfo Manager Utility.

and even though I did a new installation of fink and it's parts, I still have problems like this:

bash-2.05b$ ccache -s
cache directory /Users/robwyatt/.ccache
cache hit 0
cache miss 0
couldn't find the compiler 1
no input file 6330
files in cache 0
cache size 0 Kbytes
max cache size 976.6 Mbytes
bash-2.05b$

Can y'all help me tidy up my configuration?

You did install ccache-default, right? (otherwise maybe it's not getting used)

Thanks for advice and/or pointers,

Robert
