Guy, Warren, could you try the following (another shot in the dark, but this time backed by some experience...):


Downgrade your fink to an older version, for example the one in stable:

  fink install fink-0.23.6-11

This should not take long, and you can easily get back to the newest version via "fink update fink".

With this older version, try your compilation of xdrawchem, scribus, coot, or wherever you saw this Undefined symbols: typeinfo... error.

If thi works, we are much closer to understand the origin of the problem.

If you are a little more adventurous, you don't need to downgrade fink, but you can edit (as root) the file

/sw/lib/perl5/Fink/PkgVersion.pm

Look for the string "-fabi-version=1" and replace it by the empty string "".

Then try the compilations.
