I have only seen this error with a preliminary version of gcc-4 (filed a bug about this). It was fixed in later versions of gcc-4, both in Apple's version and in the FSF gcc version.

Do you still have some parts of a self-installed cctools version or some other non-original-system compiler or linker tools that are being used here?


Hmmm, well this is unlikely since my LAN administrator only installed
this machine six days ago. (It is a brand new dual 1.8GHz G5, for
reference.) I personally installed all of the XCode and fink-related
over the last few days (and did not use any non-fink packages of any
kind). I have been trying to compile as many packages as possible in
this time however (several hundred now). Does this help? Any other info
I can provide? I tried rebuilding again today just to see what would happen and I got the identical error (other packages are compiling fine, by the way).
