hi everybody,
after upgrading to 10.4 (including X and developer tools) and after
"fink selfupdate" I tried to "fink update-all" which did work only
partially. I think I tracked the problem down to the g77-compilation.
I'm aware of some messages from the last week concerning similar
problems but did not find something helpful (hope I did'nt overlook it...).
I think there were helpful answers, I gave some of them myself :-) Most
of the threads about this were on the fink-users list.

xgcc: installation problem, cannot exec `c++filt': No such file or
directory
[]
the apparent error is "xgcc: installation problem, cannot exec c++filt':
No such file or directory", but I cannot make sense of this.
It usually means that you don't have the file /usr/bin/c++filt that
should have been installed by the BSD.pkg. Reinstall that package, if
necessary several times, until c++filt appears. Or better yet, run the
uninstall-devtools.pl script from /Developer/Tools and reinstall all
Xcode tools.
AFAIKS I have gcc-3.3 und gcc-4.0 installed, but not gcc-3.4.3 referred
to in the above output. is this the source of the problem?
No, The g77 you are compiling is part of the gcc-3.4.3 compiler collection.
