I'm trying install xorg instead of apple's x11.app but I had some
trouble uninstalling x11.app. I used desinstaller to uninstall X11.pkg
and X11sdk.pkg. However, when I tried to install xorg (which I had
compiled while those packages were installed) it complained that an x11
installation was already in /usr/X11R6 and /etc/X11. Hmm... So, I
took matters into my own hands and moved the offending directories out
of the way, then tried 'fink install xorg' again. Here's what I got:
Setting up xorg (6.8.2-25) ...
dyld: /usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache can't open library:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libfontconfig.1.dylib (No such file or directory, errno
= 2)
/sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/xorg.postinst: line 23: 1215 Trace/BPT trap
/usr/X11R6/bin/fc-cache
/sw/bin/dpkg: error processing xorg (--install):
Looks like xorg is linked against stuff that should be in /usr/X11R6.
Did I break some other fink packages by moving those directories? Will
I need to recompile lots of things?
with Apple's X11 uninstalled I thought I should have removed anything
in /usr/X11R6. Some time ago I switched from darwinports to fink.
Maybe darwinports had X11 installed in /usr/X11R6?
Any idea how I can get xorg working?
Cheers
Mike
