However, there have been instances where (being blunt) lazy developers decided to use Fink-compiled stuff directly and put it in /sw. If you poke around in your /sw directory with the Finder you should be able to see what's there. Nothing required by your system uses it so you can delete the directory to do a clean install of Fink. However, since you said "assuming a successful install", does this mean you ran the installer? You may just need to do something as simple as open a fresh terminal window for the "fink" command to show up. -- Alexander K.
