"gcc" is indeed a symbolic link. Yours may not be pointing to the correct place. Try running sudo gcc_select 4.0 to make sure it points to the gcc4 compiler. The second error is separate. Make sure that you have the file (e.g. via 'ls /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/3.3/cc1plus') and if so then follow the instructions from http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=5915361&forum_id=3200 -- Alexander K.
