[Fink-beginners] Installation

Hi,       I am very new to fink (and macs in general) I need to get a copy of g77. I have downloaded fink and followed the instructions on the web to as far as "fink scanpackages; fink index" the 5th step. I entered the command into the terminal window and got the following response, which i don't think is right: Welcome to Darwin! richard-lowsecks-ibook-g4:~ Richard$ ink scanpackages; fink index -bash: ink: command not found Password: Reading package info... Updating package index... Can't exec "gcc": No such file or directory at /sw/lib/perl5/Fink/VirtPackage.pm line 538. /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/3.3/cc1plus is not executable! done. Do you have any ideas what is wrong?  Richard P.S I'm running os tiger and downloaded fink 0.8.0
