But why I can see some other software installed?
I installed Ruby (via Fink) and I can see it.
but I can't see fretype.
... now I can see fondu (I have just tried again)

some are indicated as "provided"(?)

FC tells there are 105 installed: so it knows there are more packages installed since I started to use it (they were 89).

I think I will drop on my knees, tears flowing from my eyes, the day I will find a simple application that could search over the hd finding EVERY bin file that could be used like an application, giving me the real opportunity to SEE it and to USE it.

You won't see them in the FInk Commander window because Fink Commander
is a tool to _install_ packages, not run programs.

Typically packages install programs (commands) under /sw/bin (for a
default Fink setup). You can verify this with the 'dpkg' tool, for
example via:

dpkg -L fondu
