Is this another question after your previous question? Did you answer to
Martin's question? I don't think I have seen it.
If you rename the directories like /usr, then it is a general UNIX
behaviour that the system no longer works properly.
Baba, I'll explain: We had some off-list exchange (I wanted to keep the
crash logs out of the list). It became clear that the original problem
was caused by interference from some libraries in /usr/local, so I
advised to move /usr/local/lib out of the way. This removed one source
of breakage, but apparently there remained something else. Jian Ma
wanted to apply the previously learned lesson and, seeing there was
something about libraries in /usr/lib in the crash report, a little too
eagerly moved /usr/lib out of the way. This quickly turned out not to be
a good idea :-)
Whereas this could have been repaired differently, reinstalling the
system is, in principle, a good possibility, too. The problem with
Apple's system installation procedure is, however, that it leaves very
important system components in optional installs that tend to be
forgotten, and then itself often forgets to install individual files.
Concerning "as", reinstalling the developer tools repared this. The
problem that remained, and where I had no answer, was:
