Dear all,

my newly installed KDE doesn't want to play sound for me ;-)

at startup, I get error message:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
Couldn't connect to server
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Any idea how to fix it?

thanks, Gerrit

Make sure your KDE sound settings (under the control panel)

1) Are set for "enlightened sound daemon" rather than automatic

2) Are set for 44 kHz.

However, I can attest that for me sound works about 50% of the time.

Hello Alexander,

I checked the preferences, but they were (and still are) set according to your advise. Still 0% sound.

Will there be hope for future versions?

Greetings, Gerrit
