sound is still a sore spot in kde. Sometimes it works and sometimes it
doesn't, and it's never clear what is the cause. :(

the upcoming 3.5.2 will actually disable arts by default, as it's next to
useless.

Subject: [Fink-beginners] Couldn't connect to sound server

I've just compiled kde-bundle and amarok. After one and half day of
compilation it's up & running without any compilation error,
hurraayyyy. But sadly, kde (arts) couldn't connect to sound server.
I've no clue what to do now. Should I install any sound driver for
X11? I'm using Apple's X11, so sound drivers should be supported from the
system, shouldn't it? My system is

iMac G5 17" 1.8GHz
Tiger 10.4.6
Xcode 2.2
