I'm the first to say I'm green at this, and your suggestion is a good one. I understand the setup for Fink, and it's relation to OSX. I've also discovered with a bit of experimenting, and meagre notes, that it's possible to have more than one shell. Is this correct, and for a beginner, which one would be the easiest? I seem to have Bash, tcsh, sh, etc.... Fink is setup as follows... -/sw/fink. Is this correct? I have the sw directory straight from home, one step higher than user. In terminal, cd brings up my admin prompt and either $ or % depending on the shell I use. I'll start with a Fink package, and ask further if that's ok. Any suggestions for a simple starter, that's relatively bulletproof?
