Thank you so much for responding (and for releasing the libxine1!).   
I am having trouble compiling it, though.  I'm pasting from where the  
trouble seemed to start:

Have any ideas about what I can do to remedy this?  I've tried  
updating Fink a few different times and tried compiling after that-- 
all to no avail.  Let me know if I have inadvertently pasted an  
uninteresting part--I am very new at this.
