Right:  removing Fink doesn't fix this for you because it doesn't do
anything to your .profile file.  You could try renaming it or at least
moving it out of the way.

Howerver...when I've had similar fork errors in the past, I had to
close other apps, log out, or reboot to solve them--they didn't seem
to be really related to Fink.
