To be honest, fink doesn't (and I don't think ever has) prided or promoted itself as having a good GUI front end. Power/featureful and decent control/interaction yes, but not "pretty GUI". Fink comes with a bunch of primary tools that do everything, but they're all CLI. Well documented, help-screen-ful, and rational, but still CLI. > What would be the best venue to discuss details of restarting / replacing > Fink Commander? I'd start with questions like, "How is it currently > implemented -- an Objective C program, or a script?" and "What documentation > is available, if any?" and "Is the original author willing & able to answer > questions?". ObjC for the GUI, which also has a perl component in order to interact with fink itself (which is all perl), and I think it also spawns some command-line tools. It's at finkcommander.sf.net, source is available via anon CVS there. > Looking forward to pursuing this in the appropriate forum. Yeah, I think we've strayed a *bit* beyond beginners level stuff here:) fink-devel seems reasonable. Also the #fink IRC channel on freenode usually has some of the key fink developers. dan -- Daniel Macks [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.netspace.org/~dmacks ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
