At least say what OS version you're running.

However, fink-0.5.3 is severely out of date (and no longer supported).  
Unless you're still on 10.2 without even having applied the gcc3.3 
Developer Tools update, I'd recommend that you remove Fink via

sudo rm -rf /sw

and then install the appropriate version for your OS version from 
http://www.finkproject.org/download/index.php .
