That's Gimp.app from (http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net/) I assume. I'm not sure how it does its thing. I'm using xorg, and have X11.app installed from the Fink x11-app package, and when _I_ start Gimp.app for some reason both X11.app and XDarwin.app run. On the other hand, for me if XDarwin is already running the GIMP is perfectly happy to run.
