Ok here is what I have done, I ran "sudo apt-get update" with the following result:

Could this be why I am getting the error message that I mentioned when I run "mtr".? How can I fix this problem, I have read through the help section and documentation, yet clearly I am missing something here. I think I am in over my head here, so any help would be appreciated.
